Need a project for independent study class

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi, everyone. I am taking an independent study for a nursing elective this fall. I have never done this before and am clueless of what to do. The only thing the instructor keeps telling me is it has to do with nursing and advance my education in some way. Well that is pretty vague. Has anyone here done this or does anyone have a suggestion of a project?

Thanks in advance :uhoh3:

I had to do this and off-hand I can think of about a hundred different research areas/ projects you could do.

IMO... sit down and think about what "type" of nursing you want to do. Then think about the things that influence that type of nursing. What technologies are out there... where is the field headed in the future. Researching and understanding these types of things would certainly help meet your given requirements.

Now... on to a pet subject... When doing community health I did some work on a project detailing the role of the teen father in teen pregnancy. Beyond the conception that is :) How are fathers involved. What resources are available to them. Does the medical / social community intentionally or unintentionally discourage them from being involved in the pregnancy and subsequent parenting. How do they see their role. What type of social community support/discouragement do they face. My research was eye opening. I'm sure you would find it enriching if thats a topic of interest for you. You can use the info to outline the situation, talk about how systems work or dont, and propose various changes you think would help (and why)

Thats one heck of a project!

Anyway.. theres a few thoughts. Hope it helps :D
