Need a Preceptor for Rural Clinicals as Family Nurse Practitioner

Published

I am in desperate need of a preceptor to fulfill 40 hours of clinicals in a Rural Health Care setting preferably in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas. It has to be a city/town with less than 35,000 population. Please let me know if there is someone that may be able to precept me. I am graduating in December and have to finish my rotations by the end of November.

I was in a similar situation during school. Do you have to go with a FNP or can it be a DO, MD or PA? You can get a list of local practitioners and start cold-calling or mailing them. As a nurse I knew all of the docs and NPs in the area (PAs were not an option) and I sent letters and called ALL of them (rural area, maybe a couple dozen calls total). Eventually found a preceptor. Good luck.

Actually, we can be with NPs, PAs, or physicians but preferably NPs. I am going to keep calling. Thanks!
