I'm a therapist interested in possibly enrolling in an R.N. program (not BSN) thats offered online.
Excelsior at $5,000 a semester is a bit high seeing my interest once finished will only be in working part time or p/t per diem. Can anyone recommend some other schools that are less expensive and self paced? Also one where you don't have to presently be an LVN to enter and offer whatever pre-requisites that may be required.
Thank you!

Where did you come up with the figure of $5,000 per semester for Excelsior? Except for the enrollment fee, cpne, and yearly student fee you only pay per exam. I figure the whole thing (including pre-req's) will be about $5000-$6000.
I guess I misread a posting.Is Excelsior a self-paced course?
Just found out that Excelsior graduates are not accepted in California.
Does anyone out there know of another school that offers a 2 year R.N. program online?

The only other online RN program (besides Excelsior) I have heard of is Deaconess. Now their tuition will run between 3K-5K per semester depending on how many gen eds you need. I just finished my first semester, and was able to cover my tuition with a Stafford Loan. Deaconess is an excellent program. It runs on a tradition college schedule though, 3 semesters per year, so it is not self-paced. Also, you do not need to be an LPN or have any other prereqs to start.
If you are interested you can find out more at http://www.deaconess.edu
