Need a Nursing School Review Thread!!!

Carrie is talking about The CEO of Southwestern Vt Medical Center. Unfortuantely Ms Carrie has misinterpeted why The CEO left. He was not fired, he resigned his position because he retired after 19 years at the helm and Yes there are 1.3 million dollars missing not because he misappropiated those funds, it is due to a shortfall in the budget for the coming year. But these are the times we live in.

I know that Carrie has been having some issues with her School, VT tech and her clinicals with them. She has posted over in the Region Forum in the VT section in this regard as well as other places here, but other than some very general comments she has not been very forthcoming with details as to what kind of discrimination has occured or as she says "something along the lines of confiscated activity fees or unethical practices"

As I have been looking at VT Tech I wanna know whats up....

I personally, don't think such a thread is a good idea.

It's not a good idea, to associate your screen name on Allnurses with the school you went to, because it's too easy for classmates to figure out who you might be....and for other nurses at the hospital you work at, as well as in instructors that may be very well connected.

Also, it doesn't give a clear opinion as to WHY the student believes that they did not receive a good education....did the student study or just claim they did?

I understand that you are concerned, but know that anyone can report specific situations of their education to the BON, if you have concerns. Be very careful about the rumor mill.

I also agree that I don't think it's a good idea. A lot of students become very angry with their nursing programs and while sometimes they aren't the best, they make the students that are already there or hopeful applicants afraid panic and begin to second guess the choice they may have made to go to the school. Not to mention you don't know how they are judging their opinion. There are already a few threads like this in the state/regions forums that usually lead to arguing or students second guessing their education because of what previous students have said. I think all students have a different experiences and a school shouldn't be generalized by what a few people think.

Anything about the school's problem such as what yours is going through or something like unaccredidation or whether or not their nursing program had been shut down or closed before is different but a thread for student OPINIONS is definetely not a good idea. Not to call anyone a liar but if you haven't already noticed on this board, nursing school experiences vary far and wide with the individual.

There's already a programs section under regional; you could give your opinion of the program there at your own risk?
