I am a student in an 18 month LPN program in VA. It is not at a community college, so I can not apply for Pell Grants, etc. BUT...I do need money for school without taking out a student loan! Any ideas??? Any scholarships that you know of (by the way I'm an adult student)...
Let me know if you know of any scholarships or stipends or anything of the sort.
Thanks!

18 months is kind of long for an LPN program. Most of them it's only a year.
If you need money for school, I would seriously consider a community college so you can find the financial resources that you need.
If you are doing a for-profit "technical" college...you are getting ready to get ripped off.
I'm already in the program...getting ready to complete my first 9 months. It is at a County Technology Center, so the cost is very reasonable...but since I'm not working (and can't work during the second 9 months due to class and clinicals total about 34 hours a week), then I'm needing to find a way to pay. It actually not much...needing about $5000.
Student loans are at fixed rates right now...in the past, they have not been, and this has got some folks into a lot of trouble.
It's worth considering since you are not needing a staggering amount. Call the local unemployment office...sometimes they know of special funds to help.
Also, check the area hospitals...if they offer a scholarship, you can use that to pay the tuition and pocket the rest to pay your expenses.

hi tyr2beanurse,
I'm really sorry to hear about your story. I can really sympathize because money has been extremely tight for me. I'm not any part of this company but I tried this stupid thing for $4 to sign up for grants and got $1,800. It's not a lot but it got me over a tough time in my life. I hope this can help you:

I hope that helps you and you can make it through this tough time.
God bless,
