U.S.A. Pennsylvania

I am currently taking some classes to get out of the way before I start a nursing program in August. I am looking for a new job and would like to get one in a hopsital if thats possible. Does anyone know if there would be any jobs there that I would qualify for without have a nursing degree yet? I wasn't sure where to post this but I live in Pa so I thought I might post it here. thanks!

Hi, Good luck with your nursing program and your job hunt. However, you should know now that there are no jobs for New Grad RNs at all right now (so plan your future accordingly). I don't know what sort of job you might get in a hospital without any training. I am guessing you want medicine-related and not dietary or janitorial...so get certified as a CNA or EKG tech or take a medical terminology course...that will up your odds. Maybe by the time you graduate, someone will start hiring new grad RNs....

I wasn't sure what part of PA you live in, but Lehigh Valley Hospital hires PSNA (professional student nursing assistants) which you are basically a nurses aide, but they will allow you to watch procedures, etc. You can apply for that position after you complete your first clinical I think. They also offer scholarships (up to $10,000, you get so much each semester in school), you just have to sign a contract to work there after school. They do also hire Graduate Nurses, they have several different GN programs- Med/Surg, Critical Care, Home Care, OR. You can begin working with your temporary license, they just put a date that you need to complete the NCLEX by. Hope this help! Missy
