There are no classes. You are testing out on the variety of subjects. It is a self-study distance education program. You review the materials, register for the exam, get your authorization to test and then take the exam. You can take your pre-req classes at your local community college, CLEP test out of them, take Excelsior classes or exams (classes are online or distance based). The final two courses one is a online class and the other is a 3-day clinical proficiency exam that you take in person at one of the available sites. Length of time varies by individual. Some people take their time, others take a few exams a month. The wait can be 6 months or more to gain a seat for the final clinical proficiency exam (CPNE), you cannot apply until you have completed all your nursing credits.

The current fee schedule: http://www.excelsior.edu/c/document_library/get_file?uuid=e0eb7e75-d89a-40c1-9d78-aaa6e7fa379d&groupId=78666
