Hi,
I'm in my mental health rotation right now and this T/W/Th I'll be in an inpatient psychiatric hospital. One of our assignments is to lead a group. We'll have 2-12 patients and are in charge of leading them for 45 minutes. This can be a game, project, anything really.
Our instructor gave us an example about blowing up a beach ball & writing questions on each color. And then tossing the ball around the room. She said that she see's this done too many times and would prefer we didn't do.
I'm just wondering if anyone has ever done this or has any ideas. I'm having difficulty because I'm the first section of my class to be assigned this & we wont know the patients or their their issues/illnesses. We are supposed to try and tie it into the theme of Self Esteem or Addiction.
Any Ideas or advice is MUCH appreciated

In my Mental Health rotation it was suggested that we play home made Scattergories or Pictionary. Another one that was recommend was Reminiscence Therapy where you go around the group and start with questions like "What is your favorite color?" or "What was your favorite childhood memory?"
thanks! :) I like the game ideas. I feel like that would be less pressure for the clients too, because they can choose how personal they want to get.
