Hello everyone
I am new to this site and new to the nursing world. I am currently finishing up my pre-reqs and will be starting the program next semester. the reason i am sending this out is because i need help. I work like crazy right now to afford school and my every day living i am hoping that someone somewhere will be able to point me in the right direction for finding scholarships, grants, or anything that will help me pay for school. I am at st xavier in oak lawn illinois i do not know if that helps or not. I was curious how everyone else has done it, any information would be appreciated....
Thanks
Dustin

Cutting as many living expenses as possible (cable TV? excess driving? selling your gas guzzler for a car that uses less fuel? eating out? drinking out?) now to enable you to save more money; buying used textbooks either from classmates or online; filling out that FAFSA online to see what aid you can qualify for through your school's financial aid office; and lastly, private loans. The problem with those can be very high interest rates that continue to accrue while you're IN school as opposed to government school loans which often defer interest until you graduate.
If you have not filled out the FAFSA online, that is the first thing you need to do. Use THIS website, not the other fafsa.com site which is not the official site (not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education):
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
Once it's complete, call your school's financial aid office and ask them how to proceed to see what funds you qualify for. Then take it from there....one step at a time...
Best wishes!!
