I am a new grad of May 2016, and have been working in the NICU for about 4 months now and love my job. However I have been struggling a lot with adapting to night shift. I have a history of mild anxiety, and history of depression in my family. Since working night shift my anxiety haso increased because I'm not eating as healthy, I can't work out each day, and I feel isolated from friends and family, because of our opposite schedules. I sometimes just have random breakdowns of crying, and the I stress about not being able to sleep all day... I've tried to find some jobs that are M-Friday, but obviously those are hard to come by...

Anyone else experience this??

I am the opposite...I enjoyed night night. I worked it for years because it enabled me to have less contact with families and administrative figureheads. I am not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination.

I worked from 6:00pm to 6:30am for years. I worked out at a local gym from 7:00am to 8:00am before heading home, showering, and going to bed. It is also possible to bring healthy foods to work.

Nonetheless, some people simply cannot adapt to nights, and you may be one of them. If your anxiety and crying spells are as severe as you say, perhaps some counseling might be in order. Good luck to you.
