I think you should reschedule; it doesn't sound as though you are ready. If I were you, I would sit down a few hours a day and work on completing the entire UWorld QBank. When you are doing the QBank don't just answer the question read it and then move on, actually right down the rationales s/s, adverse effects (pharmacology), tx, risk factors, and life threatening complications. While going through the QBank answer the questions timed using Kaplan's strategies: Maslow, safety, ADPIE, delegation, and assess vs implementation. Go through the QBank by system, pharmacology, cardio, and etc. Doing this worked for me and helped me to pass last month. The content in the HURST Review did not work for me and I failed and it seems as though it is not working for you either. So I would move on from it.
I will be taking NCLEX for the third time next month. First time I used just Hurst and had all 265 questions. Second time I used Hurst's remediation plan and quickly skimmed at some of Kaplan's and Saunders strategies and the computer shut off at 130 questions (I had gone down in two categories). Now my plan is to finish reading/skimming Saunders latest edition for content and definitely review my hurst book two weeks before the test...but when do I have time to finish my lacharity questions or practice passing level questions? Did I mention that I've used all of my hurst questions and I paid $80 for UWorld questions on my second attempt and was not close to using all of the questions. Does anyone have any advice because I'm panicking and I feel like I should reschedule
Mild anxiety is good.
My suggestion would be is to finish if not all but mostly of UWorld questions and read the rationale and really try to understand it. And also the self-assessment tests.
Goodluck!
Thank you guys so much for responding. I used UWorld questions for my second attempt and haven't purchased it again because I recently quit my PCA job and am trying to save money. I've tried writing down things, but for some reason I just can't get it to stick especially lab values, Kaplan's decision tree, food sources for electrolytes, delegation, etc. Did you guys have to constantly repeat things in your mind for it to stick? I've been told not to over study and study two weeks before the test. I've also been told to either reschedule for January or just go ahead and take because one never feels prepared. At this point, I think that I will attempt to finish Saunders and then purchase UWorld, hopefully for the last time, and practice questions each day for two weeks until test time.
