I need some help trying to figure out if I'll get this job. I have been doing long term care at assisting living facilities for about 2 years.
I'm not certified yet. I just started my CNA program 2 weeks ago and will be taking the exam in December.
I've been filling out applications to hospitals, because I thought the wait time would be longer for some. I got an email from Human Resources
For being a PCT and its required that I'm certified. I really want this job. I was wondering if anyone knew if they will give me 90 days to get certified.
I also don't have my CPR certification and I'm planning to get that next month too.
Any feedback would help.

When I was hired and had not taken my certification test, I was told I had a certain time frame to get my certification test completed. I believe it was two weeks. With this being a hospital, they most certainly will want you to be certified from the very beginning.
And not to be discouraging, but most hospitals will not hire a CNA/PCT who has no experience beyond clinicals. The brand new CNAs hired at my hospital cannot keep up with the load or pace on the floor. You say you have experience in LTC but what kind of experience is it?

I'm going to disagree with hookyarnandblanket. Where I'm from, there is a large hospital system that is willing to train their new hires. I was hired as an ED tech and had no phlebotomy cert or experience, I am taking a class through the hospital for it next week. A fellow new hire has never been a CNA before and she is currently taking their CNA training class. Just let whoever interviews you know that you don't have yours yet but are in the process. Hospital orientation takes forever so it's not like they'd hire you one day and put you on the floor the next day.
Basic patient care. I have my medication cerfication also. I have notice that some hospitals that I applied to have used, " required" or "preferred" and I was aiming more for the preferred CNA position , to give me the time to get my CNA. I had sent her my resume that clearly stated that I was a caregiver and not a CNA. But I'll see how the interview goes. I also got another offer at another hospital. We'll just see how both go.
I love in Dallas, TX and we also have hospitals that do the same. Unfortunately, with the numerous amount of applications they get it takes awhile. So I fill out applications everyday to them. Just any position they have with CNA and work my other job, do school and go to my CNA class. So I understand what you are saying. And thank you. It's very hard to get into the hospital but Im determine.
