x = 12 dollar tickets sold
500 - x = 7 dollar tickets sold
12 x + 7 (500 - x) = 4000
12x + 3500 - 7x = 4000
5x =500
x = 100
100 12 dollar tickets
400 7 dollar tickets
I checked it out and I believe it works. :)
