Hi everyone,, i'm new here, and i registered here coz i find this website helpful to every nurses around the world. i really learned a lot from here. anyway, can somebody help me for my interview as a dialysis nurse? i've never been assigned to dialysis unit and this would be my first time..i will have my interview next week.my friend, who is also a nurse told me that she was ask about the objectives (as a dialysis nurse) and the its job description.. i just need some idea on how to answer those questions since i still don't have any idea about dialysis.. hope someone can help me with this.Thanx

If you dont know about dialysis are you really sure you want to do it. The hep c and hiv risk for you is higher with access care and insertion such a big part of the job. these patients are really sick. LVN do quit a bit RNS are responsible for pushing drugs and cpr when they crash if you work at a facility out of the hospital. You have to mix and take orders from doc on the level for potassium and sodium to add depending on if your certified. You really need to brush up on diabetes kidney failure and the side effets and adverse effects of dialysis. go online. Good luck. Know your stuff.

Hi, Heltzer...

Hope I'm not too late...

There's a website called http://www.renalweb.com

It has all kinds of insight on "day in the life of Hemo nurse, etc."

Also, http://www.nephron.com....is a global site about nephrology nursing.

Hope that helps.
