Need help/info regarding accelerated/direct entry programs

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi all, I just found this board and thought I'd ask for some advice. I graduated 3 years ago with a B.S. in Bio and minor in Chem. GPA is probably around 3.2 ... science classes probably 3.7/8. Havent taken the GRE yet - planning to next month.

Worked as a scribe in an ER for a year, about 1000 hours. Other than that, I have nothing as far as experience or volunteering. I had been planning on applying to PA school, but then I found out about these accelerated NP programs, and I think this might be the perfect fit for me. I'm TOTALLY lost though.

Is there anywhere that has a list of the universities that offer these programs? Also, how is it that some programs lead to NP, while other masters programs don't?

How many schools should I apply to?

Do I even stand a chance with my GPA? I feel so behind, because I'm just looking into this now and would like to begin in 2013. Also, if you do an accelerated BSN do you have a good chance of getting into an accelerated masters program right after? Anyone that can point me to some good info or a website? Thanks!!

Oh, I saw some schools require nutrition...

I registered for a nutrition class at my local community college, but it seems super basic (not intended for science or health science majors) how do I know if this will meet the requirement or if I'm wasting my time? Sorry for the 20 questions!
