  1. oh gosh, i didn't even consider that. my school has a well respected long standing program and i really would be shocked if it did not meet CA standards, i guess only time will tell on that one.
  2. Am I allowed to have open applications in two states at one time? Pearson vue made this seem like you cannot do that. That one would have to expire before you could try another. Thanks for the help!
  3. its an 8 hour drive (at best) but I just may have to do that! thanks!
  4. I guess I made this confusing. I had applied to CA but it is taking forever, so I was hoping to apply to another state instead which I know processes the apps faster. I just realized that I cannot do that and would have to let one expire first. Yes I was willing to pay for both, but I guess I cannot do that. Just trying to find a way to test.
  5. Hi all, I am from California, went to nursing school out of state, and came back to CA to test. My first problem occurred when I was filling out the application to test on ca.breeze.gov and they did not list my school as an option, even though it is accredited. I called for months, emailed, faxed with no answer or response ever. I finally go through to someone about two months after my graduation who told me that if it wasn't listed my school wasn't accredited, which I know is not true. She then proceeded to tell me to just pick a school with a similar name as mine, but send the transcripts from my actual school (obviously), so I did just that. It has now been 8.5 weeks since everything was sent in (I did fingerprints ahead of time and did rush on my transcripts right as I filled out my app). I once again am unable to get a hold of anyone at the CA BON, the phone line is constantly busy. I REALLY need to test, as I am in a very bad financial situation and without a home and my school loans need to start being paid back in January. I am desperate for any advice about what I can do to be able to test. It has been four months since graduation, I really need to test. Thanks
  6. Hi guys, this is probably a dumb question, but I didnt get much help from my school. After I apply to whichever state im trying to get licensed in, do i have to register with pearson vue in order to be approved? I was going to wait until after the state had approved me and then register to test, because I plan on applying to two states (since one is going so slow) and whichever approves me first is where i will send my nclex scores. (hope that makes sense) thanks!
  7. Thank you all so far for all the info! Very helpful, I really appreciate it
  8. Hi all, I am interested in living in a new place, currently in CA and will probably not stay here to start my career. I am very interested in hearing your thoughts about where you live&work and why you love/hate it (things like cost of living, employment, activities, weather etc). I'm pretty much open to anywhere that has a decent pay to cost of living ratio. I would love to work neonatal, but will accept any position I am offered, so that's not really a factor in my decision. I'm late 20s married, no kids, two dogs, like to be outdoors. Any and all thoughts welcome, thanks so much!! P.S. our current line of thinking is oregon, tennessee, or colorado, but again we are open to anything!
  9. Hi all, I just found this board and thought I'd ask for some advice. I graduated 3 years ago with a B.S. in Bio and minor in Chem. GPA is probably around 3.2 ... science classes probably 3.7/8. Havent taken the GRE yet - planning to next month. Worked as a scribe in an ER for a year, about 1000 hours. Other than that, I have nothing as far as experience or volunteering. I had been planning on applying to PA school, but then I found out about these accelerated NP programs, and I think this might be the perfect fit for me. I'm TOTALLY lost though. Is there anywhere that has a list of the universities that offer these programs? Also, how is it that some programs lead to NP, while other masters programs don't? How many schools should I apply to? Do I even stand a chance with my GPA? I feel so behind, because I'm just looking into this now and would like to begin in 2013. Also, if you do an accelerated BSN do you have a good chance of getting into an accelerated masters program right after? Anyone that can point me to some good info or a website? Thanks!! Oh, I saw some schools require nutrition... I registered for a nutrition class at my local community college, but it seems super basic (not intended for science or health science majors) how do I know if this will meet the requirement or if I'm wasting my time? Sorry for the 20 questions!
