Have fun! You will be presenting your philosophy September 14th and should limit your presentation time to three (3) minutes, or less. A written description of your philosophy will be passed in after your presentation (no more than two pages).

I personally dont think this class is my strengh. My personality is very quiet, never talk, do homework, go to class, do what clinical instructors ask me to do, so i never actually thought about what kind of person i need to be if i want to lead a team in the future. I always think about one step at a time. Therefore i have no bright ideas for this assignment, and it is only 2 pages, which to me is tricky because it needs to be concise and cathces lots ideas! Not that im not trying, im reading the posts i researched here and it is already 1130pm! i decide to put this request and stay as late as i could (read as much as I could) and will check tomorrow morning! Millions thanks for help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck on this assignment. Try to remember the goal. You are not deciding right this second what type of nurse leader you will be for life. That's like trying to know what type of flower will bloom when you have a handful of seeds.
You are a seed. You have not led. If you had you would know more.
Rely on your other life experiences to fill the gaps. Have you any younger family members who relied on you? Babysat children? How did you react to their problems and issues? You will probably find your answers there.
How did your parents lead you? Kindly and patiently, impatiently, firmly? You will react to their style and create your own as a response. You are likely ready to take this next step, but since you have not been tested, you may not really know how you will lead.
So, if you are not deciding this second what type of nurse leader you will be for life, what are you doing here? You are trying to graduate. So, give this instructor EXACTLY what they ask for. Do not stress over this.
I was asked to write several such assignments in leadership class -- What are your 1 year, 5 year and 10 year career goals and how do you expect to meet them? What is your desired area of nursing specialty?
The instructor wants the assignment done, in as brief a manner as possible, following the guidelines that she/he has kindly provided. Do that and you will be fine.
So, if I were 21 and doing this assignment...
"I have experience in leading others which reveals that I have a kindly, patient, but possibly somewhat lenient leadership style. 1©From the research of XYZ, this is called the "KINDLY MODEL OF LEADERSHIP" and has been successfully used in my desired area of specialty, OB/GYN.
1(b)In the past when leadership opportunities have presented themselves I have followed the example laid by my parents, which is . . . blah blah"
1(a)My response to those whom I have led when they bring me issues to resolve is . . . which is typical of the Kindly Model of Leadership.
Try to find where each of the below bullets is found in the brief passage above. If your instructor will allow, end-note or flag in some way the substantiation for satisfaction of the requirements.
Key to remember ---- You are trying to graduate, not win the Nobel Prize, not figure out your every move in the future. You are showing 1a-1c and 2a-2c. That's really all.
