Here is my problem. I went to school in Va at medical careers institute in newport news.Graduated in april 08 passed nclex in june. I am about to apply for licensure in ca but, want to make sure that my school is accepted there. I have talked to the cabon the vbon adn my school and no one is helping. I don't see why is wouldn't be accepted but, need to know for sure b/c we can't afford to live out there if I can't work. Hubby deploys to Iraq soon. Any help would be great.

You might want to post this in the California Nursing forum.

Have you tried calling the CA BON directly and giving them some details about your program? I did so before applying for my license there and was given pretty firm feedback about my chances.

I understand that California will grant conditional licenses for those that have to take more classes in order to be fully licensed. They're good for half a year, and you can renew them for an additional half year while you make up your educational deficits.

Another option to is apply at a VA. I'm not sure of exactly how it works, but I've heard that if you have a license in one state you can work in any state because they're federal.

Have you sent your transcripts to the CA BON yet? Expedite them over for review, that's the only sure way you'll know.
