Need to hear from psych home health nurses

I have worked for several companies with psyc programs. I have done psyc clients but not as a specialty nor would I want to. I don't know how psyc nurses deal with that. Very difficult. Everyone has something they like though. That is just not my bag. What did you want to know?

I have decided not to take a job I was considering as a Psych Case Manager. Too many weekends! Clinic work has spoiled me! I am a bit of a loner at my clinic also, I do not deal with other nurses very often at all. But I need those weekends, I could not be on call as much as they wanted as I go out of town often on weekend to help out my mother-in-law, she is a recent widow and does not know how to drive a car. The expectation of wearing a unifrom (scrubs) while visiting in the home instantly turned me off- this is a small town, many of their clinents have been mine in the past- one does not want to walk or drive where they live looking like someone who might have drugs. This is a company new to this area- I am not sure they are going to make it- but thankyou so much for replying- there are very few nurses that deal only in psych. I have for about 6 years and was a mental health tech prior to being a nurse. Birdie

Yes that is one of the things that go with home health care. I am supposed to work weekdays but LOL I am in the office several Saturdays a month to keep up.

Glad you made a choice.
