I am currently enrolled in a philosophical foundations of nursing course, our final assignment requires us to discuss our own personal philosophy of nursing. Throughout this course we have addressed the numerous ways of knowing as well as the paradigms and nursing theory. Although we have had numerous discussions throughout the course on the foundation in which nursing is built upon, I do feel lost in within my own thoughts. I am having difficulties defining what my own nursing philosophy is let alone articulating it...I puzzled and feeling very discouraged. I am not sure what direction I should take this assignment in :

Well, what do you think a nurse does? What is their importance? What role do you feel they play in caring for a patient? I would just start jotting those kinds of things down, then reorganize those random thoughts into a well-educated sounding statement. I know, easier said than done when you have a mental block.
