Nurses Career Support

Specializes in Ready to sit for LPN boards!.

I am a 38 year old (soon to be single...sucks) dad who 1 year ago left a high paying but unstable career in the financial/banking world. I graduate May 8th near the top of my class with my LPN. I have trusted the previous advice I received here and will continue on through with my RN. (I was accepted and classes start in a couple of weeks!) So here's my profile, Male 38 yrs old, BA in Business, and 13 years of STRONG HR and MANAGERIAL experience. After I graduate, what is the best way for me to maximize my income. I don't mind working but need at least 2 days off/week. I would prefer not to work on Sat/Sun so I could spend it with my 3 year old "minnie me". Naturally, if I have to I will. I need some pro's who have been where I am now who can give me some guidance. What fields to look at and ways to make extra $$. I truly appreciate the thought and concern I have received in the past from this board. *ALSO, going into hospital administration isn't out of the question. Again, THANKS! Also, will my past experience and degree influence my starting pay. I am in Tampa, Fl. What should I reasonabley expect per hour? **I AM LOOKING FOR ADVICE AFTER I GET MY RN approx 15 months from today** THANKS!

First I would get some RN nursing experience in. When the hospital or others in your area are looking for a HR person or nurse manager look into it.

I think it would be ideal if hospitals used nurses in the hiring process more than HR person. Just my opinion though.

Another idea look into being an administrator at a nursing home or similar place. Most administrator jobs are looking for a BA in business management, with your experience you are already qualified, being a nurse also would be the icing on the cake to almost garantee you the job.
