Unless your predictor exam is different than mine in scoring, 85% is not really 85%. It means you have a 85% chance of passing the boards if you took them today. Our school gave than exam at the end of school to help us know what to concentrate on for the boards and we got points if we were over a certain percentage.
Sounds like they are trying to make sure that their NCLEX pass rates are high. I've never heard of this before. Hopefully people that took this actual exam can give you an idea if this is achievable. I took the evolve predictor and got a 87%. I would start doing questions now from a NCLEX review book to get ready for it.

Boy, it's been a while since I took my ATI predictor tests. Do you need 85 % actual score or an 85 % chance of passing (which would make more sense.) I can't remember my actual score, but I know I had a 99% chance of passing the NCLEX.

If your school sucks, then the ATI is your best friend. Read those ATI books cover-to-cover - they literally have everything you'll need for the NCLEX. Luckily the predictor test has nothing to do with what you are learning in class (I know in my program the professor frequently contradicted the books, when she wasn't reading from her powerpoint).

Hi there,
I just took my ATI on Friday, and honestly, Saunders was my best friend. I read the ATI books and did well in school (also a BS school, but that's for another day...) but my advice is study interventions and do practice questions from Saunders. You'll do fine, so long as you know your basics. Good luck!

If I am reading you correctly, you have to take an ATI placement test and score an 85% or above to enter the RN program. I had to do this as well just 3 months after finishing the LPN program at my school. I scored in the 90% on all the ATI predictor tests prior to graduation. The test to enter the RN is quite lenghty. About 250-300 questions. Prior to taking the test the director of the program suggested to everyone that was going to return, make sure they read the Community Nursing ati book for review as that wasn't one of the in-depth classes that we had. I also reviewed Healthy People 2010. I am glad that I did. I the lowest percentage that I scored on all subjects was high 80% and that was in Community Nursing. Reading the Health People 2010 was a big help as there were many questions on that topic. If your school offered the ATI classes, then you will be familiar with many of the questions in the other subjects as many of them have been used in that class. The majority of the people who had to re-take 1 subject area for the entrance exam, had to re-take the community nursing. The people that needed to re-take 2 subjects had to take community and mental health. If you were strong on your predictor test for the PN-nclex, I wouldn't stress at all. Spend your time reviewing community nursing and you will do just fine. Good- luck
