Hi,
I am planning to join Ohlone college nursing program (ADN). I'm going to start my pre-requisites this spring. I would like to know how long does it take to complete the prerequisites. And are there any internship towards the completion of the course, I heard that usually students from ohlone college are allowed to work as interns in washington hospital I don't know if its true, and how good are the chances of getting a job after the completion of the course. And would also like to know if this nursing program is accredited. Thank you for your time.

Yes, the program is accredited. The pre-req's seem to take forever. Have you done your GE yet? If you haven't, and you go full time, you could probably get the pre-req's done in 2 years if you are organized. I didn't know what I wanted to do when I got to college so I did my GE, figured out I wanted to go into nursing, and then started my pre-req's. Because of that, the GE and pre-req's are taking 3 years. A&P 1 and 2 and microbiology are the only classes it says are required, but the pre-req's for those classes also include biology and biochemistry before that. Just make sure you talk to a counselor! As for the internship, I have heard of that, but I think you can only do it after you have been in the program a certain amount of time. I may be wrong about that though...
Hi Aubs,
Thanks for replying. Do you know anything about the placement test (English & math) in ohlone college. Is it compulsory to take the placement test before doing the pre-reqs.
Thank you,
Yes. A lot of classes require that you are eligible for elementary english before getting into them. I would get it out of the way as soon as possible.

Even if you have a degree in English, you must still take the English placement test at Ohlone. I didn't realize this and almost missed the deadline. When I went to take the test there was about 200 people in line. I got there 3 hours early so I was able to take it with no problem, but they don't have many seats. So get there early and don't wait until the last test date. Once you pass it, you don't have to take it again. Good luck!

Angie12486,
I found your post quite informative. I am curious to know how the English test was like? and Also if you know of any other test that has to be done. I don't want to end up sidelined like how you almost did... thank goodness you didnt miss the deadline.
