Need advice from wise students!!

Here's my question:

Would you go the LPN route if you feel the RN program is too hard for someone without a med background? Perhaps work as a LPN for 6 months then go through the mobility program.

Which option should I choose:

1) Go for LPN Fall 2009, work as LPN then take microbiology and *math 100 prior to the RN mobility, Fall 2010

*per the state, all RN applicants will need Math 100 effective Fall 2010 (I hate math!!!)

3) Go for RN Fall 2009 (have A in math 116; Math 100 not required at this time) take Microbiology this summer then apply for Fall 2009 RN class OR

4) Take microbiology this summer, take a "Patient Care Assistant/CNA" 1 semester class Fall 2009, work as CNA then apply for RN Spring or Summer, 2010 and bypass the LPN/mobility route and Math 100 requirement entirely.

..I don't want to flunk out of the RN program....heard LPN is much easier....would working as LPN or CNA help with RN clinicals... THE ONLY REASON I AM CONSIDERING THE MOBILITY LPN ROUTE IS THE FEAR OF FLUNKING CLINICALS!!

I need some advice from those wiser than me!!

Hi, I just graduated RN and waiting to take my boards. I have no background in nursing nor did I work in the field. It is a challenge, but it all depends on your study habits. You must give up a lot of things you did before. But it is so worth it. It took me 3 years and no life, but here I am a graduate RN.....

Hello californiadreaming....I was in the same boat as you once upon a time!..lol...but through some good ppl in my life who encouraged me to go through the LPN route first i did this first, and i am currently in the RN and its the BEST thing i did...now everyones life is different...when i made my decision i needed income and progress quickly...I dont know how it is where you are from...but i hope some more member on the boards can co-sign with my statement...I have noticed that when you are an LPN it, your chances of getting into and RN program is almost a definite...on the other hand..to go straight as a general ed student with no med background...eehh...you may or may not...but anything is possible with GOD...ask yourself..hmmm can i go to the RN program for two-three years and continue with my current job?..can i see myself working where im at for the next two three years?...or are you like " I have to leave this job i need more money to provide for family, a better flexible schedule etc"..if this is your concern...I would go for my LPN...NOW..if you ONLY have micro to take...STRAIGHT FOR the RN without looking back!!..LOL..have faith that you will do just fine given that you get accepted...but if you need more flexibility in your life now or have a good support system then go for your RN...and a word of advice...NEVER put yourself down as far as you think you are going to fail...you can do it...if you beleive you can...you will succeed..I hope i helped any...Good luck with your choice (micro is NOT a walk in the park)..dont take it in the summer!..lol..I didnt i took it in the fall...outta there with a c+...lol..But i passed...take care!!:heartbeat
