I'm posting this here although I mentioned it in a post elsewhere. I'm currently in my last pre-req needed to apply for advanced placement (AP) into the nursing program. Where I live there are four "blocks" or semesters and LPNs can apply to either block 2 or 3. For block 3 plcmt, you need to complete a pharmacology review course within the year prior. You also need to do the HESI PN and score an 800 or better. If you score less than 800 you are automatically considered for block 2 and are not allowed to retake the test to improve your score.
Here is my problem: I completed my LPN training in another state and about 7 mths ago started the process for transcript request, as I had completed many of the prereqs for the RN program, and I wanted to get the credit for them to complete my application. Apparently the school had another student of the same name, who had a financial hold on their records, and so I had to go back and forth with phone calls/letters to prove that there was an error:mad:.
This was just resolved and my college did get the transcripts. Problem is evaluation will take 4-6 weeks--in which time my previous pharmacology credit will have expired--making me ineligible for Block 3 placement at this point.
Faced with this situation here are my options: (1) Wait until Fall when another pharm review course is offered and take it again. With this choice, because the course is 12 weeks, I would not be able to apply to the nursing program until December, when the pharm course is done. Even then I'm not guaranteed plcmt into Block 3 because if I don't score on the HESI PN its not happening. OR (2) Finish up this last pre-req and submit my application for Block 2, which would not require the pharmacology or HESI PN. With this option I could very feasibly start in January...albeit I would have three semesters to complete instead of two.
Just looking for insight. I'm am soooo in need of motivation to continue. I've exhausted myself finishing off the prereqs for AP and now with this setback it is very discouraging. Your thoughts are helpful and appreciated. Sorry for the very long post.

Good grief no wonder I know 5 people that stopped because of all the drama, go with your gut, try to explain the first situation, if it doesn't work go for option 2 and take a breathe, time flys, read up on mental health or mother baby, trauma to get a head start. What ever you do don't quit.
