  1. I am peeking in right now, I couldn't resist the title and I work with a lot of men. I enjoy working with males.
  2. We need to be a rehab nurse for 2 years, it is not mandatory right now, but it seem to be when we were trying to become a magnet status hospital, some rns passed and some fail, but they had enough to say "we have specialty nurses with certifications" for the magnet committee, we now have magnet status and CRRN is not mandatory.
  3. We have computers in the pt's room so I chart as I go, but this is also a problem to me because it is still time consuming to get to everyones room, then I make a note of the time and have to change the time of assessment in the computer. We have care cast e document and you can change the time.

Thank you, we fill out forms for the first 3 days and then the last before discharge, somehow lately we have been filling out these lenghty forms for every shift, it's very time consuming. Thank you for your responses.

Do the staff nurses for Rehab also do the fim scoring? We chart what the patient does as far as bathing eating, dressing, toileting ect... Share with me who submit your scorings.
  6. I had to have titer, they did suggest booster if it was cheaper.
  7. Good grief no wonder I know 5 people that stopped because of all the drama, go with your gut, try to explain the first situation, if it doesn't work go for option 2 and take a breathe, time flys, read up on mental health or mother baby, trauma to get a head start. What ever you do don't quit.
  8. It took A&P 1 and 2 at my community college online, I was afraid at first but I was so happy it worked out. My exams were proct at the library.
  9. I think subjective also, because only the patient can verify the information.
  10. Not sure what you are looking for but remember everything is decreased with geriatrics, confusing and pain is not part of growing old. Age and risk factors - family relationship, afraid of losing freedom- diet, either use more salt or sugar, lose muscle mass - education still can learn but differently as everyone does at different pace. Mobility------so many things to hit on. Good luck
  11. I have always wanted to be a nurse, was a slacker in high school and a few semesters right after. I started seriously when I was your age and was a nurse at 28. You do things in your own time and you are right on time.

Lasix gets rid of pulmonary edema also, I wonder if he had potassium ordered, because lasix is potassium wasting so after he starts getting rid of the fluid he will loose potassium or was it a one time order?
  13. I hope you are gone by the time I post this. Go with your instincts. You are a new grad, find something else.
  14. Our rehab unit has a max capasity of 22 patients when it is full there is 5 rn/lpn and 3 tech. I'm in Illinois the rehab unit.
  15. I would probably like one of the weekend days off if it came to this. We have a holiday lottery and that is were someone draw a name to get the holiday off or work, but this only work on units that are exceptional with working as a team.
