Hey everyone, this will be my first post and I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice? I am a male and very interested in the nursing field but do not know where to go specifically. I'm going to join the RN program that is offered here in a community college this winter and don't know where to go after that. I hear that being a male is an advantage, is that true?? I would like to further my education in nursing but not sure in what criteria. If someone could please give my some options or opinions in what field is better I would greatly appreciate it. Also, i'm very young and schooling would not be a problem.

Have you already applied to and been accepted by the nursing porgram?
If not I'm afraid it isn't as simple as just signing up. Most nursing programs are requiring completion or near completion of pre-reqs and are then awarding slots based on GPA and/or placement testing.
Your best bet would be to contact your school of choice and make an appointment to speak with an advisor. The school will pretty much guide you through the process.
As for continuing your education...the options atre endless.
If at this point you don't have any clear cut objectives or a specific field of interest I would suggest waiting until you get into the nursing program and looking at what interests you.
I've not observed that being a male has any advantages (or disadvantages). Allnurses has a fairly active male nursing forum that could better answer those type of questions.
