Are you working right now? Having a job as a nursing or medical assistant can help pass the time until the next round of applications. But if you just want to just head straight to school, going LVN to BSN or ADN to BSN works too. It all depends on how long you're willing to wait to get into your program and if you actually have a good chance to get into the program. There isn't any point waiting if you are going to get rejected again. Is there any way you can improve your score before the next round of applications?
I am currently working full time in a credit union as a Loan Processor. I have my Medical Assisting diplomma that I received about 6 years ago but unfortunatly I could not find employment as a Medical Assistant so I just went back to what was paying good which is where i am at now. There is one way that I can improve my score which is to retake the HESI. I had decent grades with my prepreqs so that was the only thing that really lowered my chances. This school is very competitive and have so many people apply which makes it harder to get in. Just this last time 249 applied, 144 were accepted and I was #150. I am going to be turning my application in for the Summer term next week and it will be 2 months before I hear on if I will be getting in. Just trying to future plan on what the best option would be.

How long is the LPN program? If it is the same time or less then I would go that route instead of just waiting around. Can you retake some classes, volunteer at a hospital or do anything to improve your score? Out here in California the cutoff scores tend to increase over the semesters so if you missed it by 1.1 points you may miss it by more points next time.
The cutoff scores actually vary each term. This past Summer th Cutoff was around 168, fall was 183.6 and spring was 188.6. My points were 187.5. The scores fluctuate based on how many people apply and how high their scores were. This past semester was the highest they have had for a while. It doesnt necessarily mean that the next one would be any higher though. I can retake the HESI but I wont be able to retake it before the deadline which is Dec 1st. I believe the LPN program is around 15 months but I'm not quite sure.

I have recently applied to the Spring term for the Nursing program and unfortunately missed the cutoff score by 1.1 points. I plan on applying for the Summer program but have even less of a chance of getting in. They accept 144 students for Spring and only 96 for the Summer. If I dont make it for the Summer I will have to wait until the next Spring term to apply as the Fall term is Daytime only. I can only do nights/weekend and this is the only college in my area that has nights/weekends classes available. I will have my AA in General Education by the end of the Spring term 2016 as well. My dilemma is what should I do if I dont make it in for the Summer term. Should I take off for a couple semesters and reapply for the Spring term for 2017 or should I apply to the LPN program and go that route? I do want to be a nurse and I will eventually be one regardless of what route I will be taking. On one hand I can just keep trying to go straight into the RN program and the other I can become an LPN and start in the medical field while I wait to get into the RN program. Any suggestions are appreciated.
