I got accepted to the nursing assistant program for boces & it's during my senior year so 6/9 periods are spent there. I want to know everyone's opinions please on if it's worth it to do it for my senior year because I want to go to Hunter college in nyc & don't know if it would look better on applications! I want to be a RN in the future and I want to know if becoming this first helps at all or if it's something I should do after high school as a program while attending college

Congrats on getting accepted! :) I'm going to be a senior too, and also I want to do the CNA program at boces. It's definitely worth it. You'll be able to get experience dealing with patients and when you're in college you can work. A lot of the skills you learn will be really helpful in nursing school too. And the program at boces is free, so why not take advantage of it? I think it's a great opportunity.

I would say if you have the opportunity to take a CNA class in high school then take it. This would be a good opportunity for you to learn if you want to pursue healthcare when you start college. Also you will be able to take your CNA certification and it would open up job opportunities after high school.
As for looking better on applications it really depends on the school and what they look at for admitting students into their program. Some schools will give you additional points for experience with direct patient care while others don't. You will want to check with each program that you are interested in to see what they base their admissions on. One thing to keep in mind is that their admission process currently may change by the time you are ready to apply. It is always a good idea to make sure that you are keeping yourself current on their requirements.
