Relax, everyone feels this way when they first start. Take a deep breath and don't panic. Ask questions if you are not sure of what to do. A nurse who asks questions is way less dangerous than one who thinks they know it all. I prayed a lot when I first started and I still do. Find a nurse you feel comfortable with asking questions and learn from her. Good luck!

If you're not sure.......ask first. Be confident enough in yourself to know that asking questions is not a sign of weakness. Also notice, seasoned nurses ask for opinions too. No one is an island. ICU nursing is not a solo sport. I designed my report sheet in boxes to include 1.name, sevice, code status, 2.diagnosis 3. neuro 4. cardiac 5. respiratory 6. GI 7.Urinary 8. IVs 10. Labs. Then along the edges there is room for new orders and radiology and echo reports. It works for me.
