I am currently working as a PCT in a busy Telemetry department in a big hospital here in Chicago suburbs. I've been working there for only 3 months. I passed my NCLEX-RN last week and told my manager that I'd like to be considered for an RN position and she said they just hired 5 new grads recently who were also PCTs in our unit.
I would really love to be in Telemetry dept, either that or OR. But right now I don't know what to do!
Should I keep my job as a PCT in my unit and look for a part time RN job elsewhere while waiting for a new grad position to open up? I really don't want to leave the hospital where I'm working at right now. Or should I try to do a job transfer to a different department?
How is my chances of getting hired as a new grad with:
6 months of nursing home experience
3-4 months of Acute care experience
I'm a foreign grad too and passed all the necessary licensure exams needed for IL.

Any input is appreciated.
