:o hello

i need some advice from some experienced or nurses out there. i am new to the or only 1 year but i have 10 years of nursing experience.

what is the story with the or and the culture there. don't get me wrong i am staying in this job...i work 730-330 monday to friday and find the work absolutely amazing. we do some call but not a lot.....a whole lot better than shift and 12 hours. but, what is with the hierharchy? and some of the surgeons....i find myself intimidated mostly by rude surgeons....and i shouldn't be and seldom was in other areas i worked. it's only a small or with 3 theatres but we run them all and work in all areas including gyne, ent, eyes, general, endoscopes and we also cover rr....so we have a huge learning curve to know so many different things....but the docs seem to think you only have to know their specialty and get mad when you are not perfect and efficient....i'm trying my best but often feel like i suck:uhoh3: ...lol

does it get better with experience? anyone?

thanks matilda

Welcome to OR nursing, it is a great career. Did you find the great OR nurses forum on this website? Lots of stuff available there.

Don't let the surgeons get you down, where would they be without you?
