Need advice on leaving the ER

Published

Have been a pediatric ER nurse  for 3 year and recently have become fed up with working in the ER.  What bothers me is the hospital asking us to do more and more without giving us more manpower and things like that.

I have the idea of moving to the pediatric ward were I think things will be a little big more sane.

Here is my question: has anyone made this move? Did you regret it? Any conected advice would be appreciated.

Many nurses look for a change at 3-5 years for many reasons. You can become restless or disillusioned in some way.

Change can re-energize you and be a good impetus.

ED nurses are a special breed, though, and it's possible the slower pace of floor nursing may not be a good fit.

Other considerations might be pursuing your certifications and moving into leadership roles or PICU.
