Need advice: anat&micro + physio&ochem

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm going to a private school this upcoming fall (as a pre-nursing transfer student) and the tuition is crazy expensive. My advisor gave me two options: stay for 2 semester before going to Samuel Merritt (which will save me a lot of money) v. 3 semesters (which will be a little bit easier, but I'd have to take out more loans). My question is, do you think it'll be too much to take on if i were to choose the 2 semester path? Has anyone ever taken two science classes with lab in one semester together?

(I have no kids and I'm probably not going to be working at all, meaning I'm going to be super broke, but I'm willing to sacrifice that for nursing school.)

2 semester schedule

fall:

Anatomy w. Lab

Microbiology w. Lab

Sociology

History

Spring:

Physiology w. Lab

Organic chemistry w. Lab

Interpersonal communication

If I were to do three semesters I would probably have to take Microbio during my 3rd semester, along with other filler classes.

Thank you for any advice!

It's definitely doable, and honestly a very typical-looking semester schedule. The first semester looks like it's 14 credits (4 apiece for the lab courses, 3 apiece for the non-sciences) and the second is only 11 (less than full time). I took 17 credits my first semester in college, including three very reading and writing intensive Honors classes, calculus, and psychology. It's all down to time management and focus. Do it in two semesters and get it over with.
