Need ACLS for new grad?

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm applying to new grad residencies in the LA area and came across an application that requires ACLS. I only have BLS at the moment. Does that mean I'm automatically not considered?

I've noticed that most positions say you can obtain ACLS after hire or by the start date. I wanted to ask if you all have ACLS or other certifications to help "boost" your application?

I've heard two different things: some say having ACLS beforehand makes you stand out as a stronger candidate, while others say recruiters don't necessarily see it as a big advantage since hospitals often pay to train new grads anyway.

Just trying to figure out if I should get ACLS now or wait. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Yes! My cohort, we all pay out of pocket for ACLS , also,  PAL( if you want ED) , NRP( L&D), NIHSS ( free)
