Nearly qualified nurse with a job offer but unsure if i should delay due to a dilemma

Hi,

I was unsure about where i should put this post. I apologise if it is in the wrong section.

I have just completed my final year of a nursing course, and would really like to get a little advice from some people.

I am aware that i have passed all my assignments and exams for the BNURS degree. I am just awaiting the confirmation from the university.

I have been really lucky in that I attended a recruitment day at my local hospital and was offered a job on my final management placement ward. I was beyond shocked and happy about this, but I have a dilemma that i hope some people might be able to give a little advice on.

In my final year my granddad died two days after our joint birthday, who i have always called dad. There were a lot of other stresses, and I ended up doing really rubbish on my dissertation. I have passed this but the grade will have brought my degree classification down to a 2.2. I am awaiting the confirmation regarding being offered a new first attempt at submitting this work again.

The problem is that this will delay the completion of my degree, and therefore registration and possibly taking up the job offer as a condition on starting is that i have passed all elements of the course.

I already have a 2.1 degree in an unrelated subject, but know that in the future i would like the option of completing masters. The requirement is usually a 2.1 degree and i am really stuck about taking the risk and delaying taking up the job and possibly losing the offer, or just settling with the 2.2 and taking things as they come in the future. This would however, enable me to start working immediately as the hospital wants me to attend an induction at the end of the month.

I totally recognise that the classification of a degree does not determine if a person is a good nurse or not, but I've always known that at some point i will want the chance to complete a masters.

In my situation what would you advise? Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

I apologise for the spelling and grammar errors due to my dyslexia.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

First congratulations on qualifying, I completed a BSC without honours and still went onto get a masters degree so don't worry too much about your grade.

Jobs are scarce if it were me, I'd take the job.
