2nd year question...

Published

Some of the students from one of our other campuses and I were talking at new student orientation when we were selling supplies, and they told me that a teacher had let them know our careplans are not the same 2nd year. They are more like the check the box ones Rn's do on the floors now. Anyone that can shed some light on this? I would love to have easier careplans next year because my last CI told me they would be stricter next year on knowing your meds and 1st year I always felt I didn't have enough time to go over my meds the night before because I spent so much time on my darn CP!!:uhoh3:

I guess it varies from school to school. I'm currently a senior in nursing school and we have the exact same care plans as we did from the beginning. In fact, they are more strict with us on grading them now because we are more experienced and should know how to create a good plan. I still struggle with them and I hate them with a passion, but a student has to do what a student has to do.

Good luck! If you get easier CP's next semester, more power to you. :-)

When I was in my clinicals this past semester, I saw these "check the box" care plans. They're pretty simple and standardized, usually based on the patient's medical diagnosis and assessment data. They were supplied by the hospital and were relatively straight-forward. I'm not sure what else to tell you. Good luck with them!
