Nclex rn- passed 2nd attempt

Published

Note: it's a long post.

It's time to give back. I'm really happy, for I'm now officially a Registered Nurse. I do believe in this saying, Timing is everything. If it's meant to happen it will, at the right time for the right reasons.” This helped me throughout the process from being a failure at my first attempt and a champion in my battle the 2nd time. It's been a crazy roller coaster of emotions when I received the result of being a failure up to getting back on track and make another fight to achieve the dream of becoming an RN. Let me share my story.

1st Attempt- I learned a lot. I made a lot of mistakes that led to my failure.

-Not respecting NCLEX

-Not following study plan

-Pre-occupied in passing with 75qs

-Not being calm during the exam

-Not enough preparation (mind, body and spirit)

2nd Attempt-I'm desperate to pass the test this time. I did my routine on how I studied when I'm in nursing school. Read content, understand the pathophysio, quiz myself, right rationale/note etc. I do believe in Law of Attraction, because I did it also when I took my local board exam. I used it again, I made a poster in my room stating all my goals, I also write some phrases on a legal size paper every day before and after my review stating, I WILL PASS NCLEX, HAVE FAITH, JUST BELIEVE, PRAY, FIGHT”. I also pray every review and ask guidance to God. I keep holding on to this routine for 2 months. I also enrolled in NCSBN, 8-week course, I did all the content and qbanks(twice). And I think this helped me a lot in familiarizing the structure of NCLEX. It was really good. I enjoyed my review in NCSBN, I made sure I understand the rationale and how I went to the wrong or right answer. I also did Kaplan, but I didn't make used to it, I was not be able to cope with the whole thing. But it also helped in some other way. I also finished the Lippincott Alternate Format Questions, great book, USE it, I highly recommend this book. Test day: I made sure to enter the testing center the calmest state as much as possible. By the way, eating banana before taking the exam really really helped me, I read it in NCSBN blog. And I just surrendered everything to God. The exam went through and the computer shut off I think at 75, I'm not really sure cause I hide the time and number tabs. I got 10-12 SATA, 3 graphics, 1 ekg, 2 drag and drop, 1 exhibit. I was nervous at that time but I know things will be alright. 2 days after(April 9), I got the result and it says, PASS”. I was really happy because starting that day I can already live with my dream.

For those who are still studying, don't lose hope, your time will come, just keep holding on to your dreams. It will soon be yours. For me, I follow this equation, DREAM + ACTION + FAITH = SUCCESS”

God bless to all who already passed and especially to those who will take the exam soon.

Thanks for your inspiring post. I took my exam last April 4 but I failed. I used Saunders and the PDA. I guess the PDA book helped me a lot. But this 2nd time around, I'm a little confused. I don't know if I still used Saunders or not. I researched lately about Lippincott nclex RN book. Is this the book that you mentioned?

or this one

I really appreciate your help.

I understand what you are experiencing right now, i've been there before and now I have the torch of triumph, just continue to motivate yourself and trust yourself that you can pass it, CLAIM that you can do it the next time you take it. Just find the motivation in every action that you'll gonna be doing when you start again studying for NCLEX. I know it's not easy but after the process you will reap it in the future.

It's the second one. It's really helped me alot especially for the SATA questions.

For now, just relax and give time for yourself to cope with the situation and when you are ready to start the fight again, go for it. God bless on your journey! You can do it!

Thanks once again.. Goodluck for your new journey.

First off, CONGRATULATIONS! You deserve it! Did you do all the NCSBN qbanks? I'm doing the 5 week course but trying to follow the 3 week study plan. My post tests for each lesson varies... Did you get any post tests below 75%?

Congratulations Nurse! Now go there and save lives, aha!

Thank you! Yeah, I did the all the qbanks twice. 1st try, i got all the post tests below 75% and for the 2nd try i got all above 75%. But I did it a month apart so not to answer it by just what I remembered/familiarize/memorized. So that I test myself if I did remember the rationale behind.
