Hello,
Sorry if this is already a discussion thread, which I'm sure it is, but I just signed up for this site about 30 seconds ago, so I don't really know how to navigate it yet. Anyways, I am taking the NCLEX-RN exam this coming Thursday (7/25/13) - AHHH! I have been studying/ doing practice questions with both the Kaplan Review 2011-2012 book (this was the only one at my library and I didn't want to pay for ANOTHER book) and also the Saunders Comprehensive Review. I took the entire 265 question practice test in the Kaplan book and scored about 67% and I have been taking MANY practice tests through the Saunder's evolve site and keep scoring between 60-66%. I feel like this is really low.
Has anyone who has already taken and passed the NCLEX-RN have any advice/suggestions? What was your average score when taking practice tests? PLEASE help me, I am freaking out - am I unprepared? Should I push back my NCLEX exam?
THANKS!!

My average score was 65-70%; passed the first time.
The higher the percentage, the chances increase in passing the NCLEX.
Your percentages are pretty good. At this point if you are still studying, set up a few practice tests; do 75 practice questions, 105, 185, 205, 235, 265...and basically prepare for the exam that way. Learn deep breathing techniques, only answer WHAT the question is asking you.
And remember the 4 domains of being a licensed nurse: Safe, effective care; Health Promotion and Maintenance; Psychological and Physiological Integrity. Good Luck!

When you are answering a question, try to eliminate options by rationale. If your going to pick one answer over another, you need to back it up with a rationale. Ask yourself, why am I picking this answer, what facts back this answer choice? Many questions require judgement and critical thinking skills to arrive at the correct choice. Again think in through, support all decisions with a rationale which would provide for the best possible outcome. Be confident, stay positive, and take your time.
I passed NCLEX-RN with 75 questions on 07/15/13, you can do it too! I only studied for 5 days prior to the exam, skimming over material from HESI NCLEX-RN study guide, NCLEX 4000 and Saunders Q & A. Be sure to read each and every rationale when doing practice questions, even if you get the correct answer. How the book lists rationales, is how you should approach the exam questions.
Best if luck to you, be well....

I studied for the NCLEX with the Online Kaplan program. I took all of the Q-Bank questions and my average was 55-65% for the Q-Bank Questions. I think that doing the Kaplan questions helped by giving rationales for the incorrect and correct questions. It helps to understand the reason being why an answer is incorrect or correct. And helps you think like the test maker
i took the boards on July 3rd and had about 140 questions and passed. I think the best advice is taking your time and trying to control your nerves during the exam. Whatever you do, dont rush through the questions and make sure you have a rationale for picking an answer. Hope this helps.... And good luck to you!
