20hrs before I can access my quick results. took my test yesterday and am I nervous? yes I am. it is natural to be nervous when your life is on the line. do I think I did ok? yes I think so but then again its nursing exams.
How long did I study for it? 2 weeks content and 2 weeks questions from the day I graduated Dec 15 2014. questions can be from 75-200 a day.
what strategy did I use to review my content? started planning for my Nclex-RN in my last semester. decided I will not review anything I completed that semester before I take my test. I only had to review what I did the previous semesters like maternal/newborn, psych, and fundamental plus any of my med-surg weak areas. started with my weakest areas like pharmacology mainly on the classifications, safety and infections etc
What did I use for my review? I watch Hurst videos on my last semester during my lazy hours usually at night before falling asleep. not included in my 2 weeks review. is Hurst great? yes it is. will I make it my only review? absolutely NOT. did i feel like Hurst helped me on the Nclex test. kind of about 2/5.. but i got knowledge from it.
NCSBN learning extension: the hospital that hired me before graduation gave it to me for free. this is where I did most of my content review. i love the organization of it. will i recommend it? yes if you need content and love to read or are a fast reader like me. love the pharmacology
Kaplan...love love love it. this is where I spent my last 2 weeks. love there content too. similar to the NCSBN content. now I have always been lacking a little on test taking strategies (even though I was a B student throughout nursing school and an A student pre-nursing school). this is where my love for Kaplan came in. i listened to most of the lesson videos where you are taught on how to answer questions and its about 60 questions for each. they are long videos but really helpful if you are someone who get stuck between two answers like me all the time and find yourself saying "geez that's what I was thinking or I wish I went with A or went with my first thought". my lowest grade on Kaplan was 60% and highest 76%. average in mid 60. did not even do half of the questions because i spent time reviewing my rationales. also did not do the diagnostic, neither the readiness test. I will not recommend going to the class. just stay home and do it yourself because you will be bored to death. same for HURST.
how did I prepare for the dreading SATA. used Lippincott Nclex-RN multiple format. and it is great to relief tension about SATA and also you learn something from it. do not use the book just register it online and use the online resources. the answers and questions are all on the same page.
I had Saunders (2013) but I already used most of the questions during nursing school. the questions are just too simple for me.
did I buy all of this the above? am a poor nursing student with bills so just make sure u have at least two great or one great buddy in your class or ex-student so you don't have to pay much. make use of your public library
Do you need all of them to pass Nclex-RN. remember my test questions will be different from yours so just know your weakness. at the least use NCSBN and Kaplan to save money since both has content and questions
keeping my fingers crossed.. hope the review helps.
