hello!
i got 2 questions for you.
does anybody knows where can i find review courses, study groups, programs or something similar to prepare the nclex test in atlanta? after 18 months waiting finally i'm going to have my itt letter very soon and i'm scared about it, i'm scare about everything, between my english, the different measure system, one year without work, etc. i don't think i'm going to do it without help.
another question, i've heard a couple of times in this forum about people who start to work in the hospital before they take the test, is that possible? is that part of a special training program or something?
let me know in you know something about it.
thanks

Probably this is too late, but if you really want to take a review, I would recommend Kaplan. They offer reviews for US graduates as well as for International graduates. Couple of my friends took it and did great! Also good one is Hurst review. Both of those have websites.
I did not take any review courses, just studyed on my own. I passed 1 st time with 75 questions, which is the minimum. I used Saunders, Lippincott, Kaplan books and CD's. All of those were hand me downs from my friends. I just practiced the questions over and over again. Saunders gives the best rational I thought. I also did 1 med/day for pharmacology review for total of 90 days. Just make a calendar and study, study and study.
Good luck!

Sorry, but I definitely do not recommend Kaplan for a foreign trained nurse. If you have been waiting already for 18 months, you need more of a review. I still live by my recommendation of Saunder's Comprehensive Review for all foreign trained nurses and nothing else. It does the best job of teaching the rationales behind the answers, and this is the most important part of the review.
Some states have temporary licenses, pending taking and passing of NCLEX. Once you take the exam, you either pass and become an US licensed RN, or you do not and can no longer work in that temporary capacity. The temporary license becomes void when you take the NCLEX.
I highly recommend that you check out the NCLEX Discussion forum here. NCLEX is the same no matter where you take it in the world, it is a national exam.:)
