I am so glad to have completed the nclex, and am now a nurse. Below are a couple of tips:
1. Learn you content, and understand why certain things happen
2. Concentrate on you weak areas, and then retest the weak areas once you have studied them.
3. Do a couple of mock tests at the same time in a similar environment to the tests.
4. Have a support group helping you as you study.
5. I got a handful of pharm questions so I needed to know drug endings, classifications, classification side-effects, nursing interventions
Tools I liked: ATI, Hurst, Feuer, and Davis RN Success Book(I used the third edition)
ATI - used to test out of each section, and find weak areas
Feuer - used to go over content
Hurst - used to go over core content
Davis NCLEX RN Success (3rd Edition) - excellent for practicing questions in weak areas, and it has great rationales, and test taking strategies. Also has sufficient SATA questions.
La Charity - First 18 chapters for prioritization questions
There were several questions that I did not have the answer to, and but the main thing was understanding my basics so I could fiqure out the answer(s).

This is the best advertisement for learning and understanding processes and critical thinking I've seen this week. "The main thing was understanding the basics so you could figure out the answer." Hint: Not just for NCLEX, but for NURSING.

Yay! Welcome to the profession :) You're going to love it. To impact the lives of many when they are feeling most broken and vulnerable is an incredible feeling. It truly warms the heart and comforts you during bad days. Congrats RN:nurse:

Congratulations!!! Did you feel the book called LaCharity really helped you during your test?
I heard that 40% of the test was priorities. I really did not notice a lot of prioritization questions. But, I would recommend doing the first 18 chapters. It's a good check to see if you understand your basics, and can think with the material.
Thanks. I think it is a great thing to be a part of.

Thank you.
My biggest hurdle in getting ready for the exam was knowing how to study and what to study. I had trouble knowing if I was ready, and I was not sure of the complexity of the exam and the content that was required to know. That is the reason that I suggest taking assessment tests, and checking ones "overall" knowledge in a particular area. Also, one cannot memorize all of the content, so it is much easier and faster to learn the basics well.
