NCLEX Question

Published

I am in nursing school currently in Knoxville, TN but I am from Atlanta, GA. After graduation I plan on moving back to Atlanta. My question is this, after graduation am I supposed to take the NCLEX in TN because that it is where I graduated or can I take it in GA? Or does anyone have any other information that might help?

Thanks in advance,

Kristen

you can take your NCLEX at any place regardless of your place of education.Nclex is given according to the place you want to be licenced.

When you take NCLEX, you choose both the testing center location and which state's board of nursing you want the results to be sent to. So you can take the test in TN and have your results sent to GA...or take it in GA if you're moving back right after graduation. Just visit GA's BON website and look up the directions for getting your "License by Examination" and all the information should be there.

Getting a TN license, just because you went to school there, will only cost you more money and time...don't bother if you will not work in TN.

You can TAKE the exam anywhere that has a Pearson testing center. When you register for it, though, you will have to tell Pearson which STATE you plan on licensing in so that they know which state board of nursing to release the results to. But, it doesn't matter where you physically sit down to take the exam. Example, on my test day (in IL) there was a guy there taking it from a university in Kentucky. He was taking it there because it happened to be the closest from his home in KY. Thus, take it wherever you want. Just indicate what state you will be licensing in when you get registered for it.
