I am wondering if it's possible to take nclex-pn instead of taking nclex-rn? A friend of ours told us that he knew of someone who failed nclex-rn twice and just took the nclex-pn...How true is this? if yes, would you need to re-apply to the boards? submit all the requirements?
Thanks for your input.

Many people take the NCLEX-PN before they take the NCLEX-RN so that they can work as LPNs. Others do it after they feel that they have failed the NCLEX-RN too many times and they cannot put off working any longer. Yes, you need a new, separate application submitted to the LPN board, and be advised that the NCLEX-PN is a little different than the NCLEX-RN due to scope of practice, but it is decidedly not any easier.
