Navy Nurses..some questions.......

First off..do you need to have your BSN to be a Navy nurse? Is an ADN ok?
What age to join..I guess I mean when are you to old to not be able to join the Navy Nurse Corp?
You have to do a commitment of 6 years correct? All six are active duty right? Are you stationed at the same place for 6 years?

Least amount of active duty time right now is 3 years. they are offering $15,000 signing bonus for 3 years. Then you will have 5 years inactive time, no drilling or anything like that.

Hello,

I think the only service that accepts and ADN is the Army reserves.

Not exactly sure about the maximum age for Navy but, at 40 the only services I qualified for were the Air Force and the Army, (both take active duty up to 42 for Nurses at this time).

Navy takes nurses until age 44 with an age waiver, not sure the process on that, though or how you qualify.

I'm a Navy Nurse Corps officer (reservist) with 14 years total service both enlisted and officer. I know on the reserve side that if you join after 40 with an age waiver, they have you sign an understanding that you probably won't get to retire with benefits. You can't get the needed 20 years for retirement. The retirement age cutoff is 60, and I understand that waivers for service beyond that are very rare.
