I had a question for any Navy Nurses out there - how does your day to day job compare to that of the civilian world?
I'm a current RN working on a cardiac intervention unit who is also current military (AFANG E-5) and I just submitted my package to the Navy Nurse Candidate program, thus my interest.
Is it as grueling as it can be civilian side? How is your nurse to patient ratio? Do you feel you have more time to provide your patients the care you actually want to?
My current position is very very stressful - I hardly ever have time for anything, to include feeding myself. I can never give my patients the care they deserve, much less the proper teaching. There is a significant lack of teamwork, very low morale, and very high rate of burnout (can ya tell i'm there already? :) ).
I've been told quite a bit from my recruiter, I just want to see how it stacks up to someone whose actually working the field or has done so within the last 5 years. Your responses are appreciated significantly as i'm honestly on the cusp of going for something different altogether if it remains exactly the same.
