Greetings Navy nurses!

What is the standard rank progression for Navy nurses? I have 4 years active army with a MA in psychology and am getting BSN next fall. I know that promotion has much to do with not being a screwup and good performance in hard positions. All things being equal, how much time in rank should I expect before promotion?

Thanks,

Thomas

I can't answer your question about Navy rank, but I was curious... check your DD214..see if you have exactly 4 years service or a few days more than 4 years.... My point is that I was told that in order to receive "E" pay, you must have a minimum of 4 years one day... many people get screwed out of the extra pay because they only got credit for exactly four years.... Might be something to check into before you start counting on the extra bucks, know what I mean?

Wumpus-

Standard progression is as follows:

2 years as Ensign

2 years as LTJG

4-6 years as LT

That is provided you don't kill anyone and you keep you nose clean. These are pretty much automatic. To get LCDR you have to work for it, be working on your Master's, have good FITREPs, be a good leader.

Hey LCDR Dan,

Good to see you on here again! I finally got to the ER, and I love the nursing aspect of it. Of course, I work with some incompent leadership so that made for a little drama but that is being resloved. I've got orders to Guam; I PCS in may. Hopefully, I get in the ER there. I'm also preparing (not very hard so far) to take the CEN. I still have a long way to go on that one.

How is your new job? How's the fam?

Take Care, sir.
