Navy Nurse Corps-student

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am currently in my second to last sequence in nursing school, and was accepted into the Nurse Candidate Program. Was originally told the only duty stations available were going to be San Diego, Walter Reed, and Portsmouth. Was recently the availability as follows:

-NMC San Diego=12 billets

-NMC Portsmouth=12 billet

WRNMMC=7 billets

-Ft. Belvoir=1 billet

NMC Camp Lejeune=1 billet

-NH Guam=1 billet

-NH Okinawa=1 billet

-NH29 Palms=1 billet

-NH Camp Pendleton=3 billets

Was wondering if anyone can give me insight on working at San Diego versus Camp Pendleton? Or any of the bases for that matter. I am interested in ICU (I know I may not get it right away) and want to be on one of the humanitarian ships and do not mind being deployed. Thanks so much for any information!

The humanitarian ships (Mercy and Comfort) are at San Diego and Porsmouth. San Diego, Walter Reed, and Portsmouth have the ICUs.
