Hey everyone,
I was just curious to see if anyone else has ran into this problem? In 2013 I submitted my application to challenge the LVN board in the state of California. The board found me eligible to take the NCLEX exam. But to do life being overwhelmingly difficult at that time I was unable to take the exam. Fast forward to 2015 and I submitted my application again only to be deemed ineligible this time. Nothing had changed since the first time I sent my application. The board said I did not have enough inpatient care experience. I resent my evals showing that I do have inpatient care experience. It's been four months since I have heard anything from the board. I plan on doing an LVN to BSN bridge program but the delay from the board is really hurting me when it comes to applying to bridge programs.
Has anyone else ran into this problem where they found you eligible once and then the second time you apply they found you ineligible? Why does the state of California make is so difficult for veterans who are Corpsman or Medics to obtain their LVN? We are more qualified and our scope of practice was more than an LVN. And why is all this inpatient care experience required? I currently work for Kaiser and they have phased out LVN on their inpatient wards. LVN's work as patient care techs or emergency department techs and their scopes are limited those positions and not the scope of an LVN. If you want to work as an LVN its in an outpatient clinic setting. Is the state that far behind when it comes to this? Or do they believe all LVN's who obtain their license will work in a SNF or retirement center?
