has anyone worked in show low? i've heard it's a great place to work, but have heard horrible things from patients. do you just never hear " i loved being at that hospital"? i love the white mountains, and miss the pine trees.

Hey, right on... I worked there... can't believe someone has mentioned it at this site. I personally liked it there. What unit will you be working in?

I think the pay is comparable to most AZ hospitals... I was an aide when I worked there. When I left, they were working toward a manditory 4:1 nurse:patient ratio on med surg. They are also going to be expanding in the next couple of years.

I heard mostly good things from my patients (I worked in ICU). I actually would hear "this is the best care I ever received in a hospital" quite often. I work in a 250 bed hospital now and seldom if ever hear that.

Because it is a small hospital and a small town... everyone seems to know what everyone else is doing. So there was quite alot of complaining and gossip amongst the staff (especially between units, shifts, certain docs etc.) I liked my job, so never had a reason to *****. I was also an aide so don't know if the nurse complaints were legit or just normal "office type gossip."

Anyway, the nurse recruiters are really nice people and they love to give tours etc.

I say go for it...

I am a student in Phoenix @ PVCC, but before I lived here, I was 20 miles east of Snowflake, near Concho. I lived on the west side of Mesa Redando, if you know where that is. It is way behind Show Low Heights, in the middle of B.F.E. My ex is still out there and working in Show Low, and the kids miss him. I would consider moving there or Pinetop so they would be closer to him.

I was a bartender @ R.T.'s Black Bull for a while, and talked to alot of travel nurses that came in after shift. They loved it there.

Oh my God.... I probably have seen you. I knew exactly where 20 miles East of Snowflake is. I like to "arrow head hunt" out there. I grew up in Snowflake, my dad is a big "hippy" out there with the "easties." I used to play pool at RT's. I got my ADN at NPC. Wow, small world. I graduated from Snowflake high school. I worked at Wal-mart (the surge of mankind) in Showlow for a while.
